BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!! EBay stops sale of Belgium!
Internet auction website eBay on Monday withdrew an unusual second-hand sale item, the country of
Belgium , which had attracted an offer of 10 million euros (13.9 million dollars).
“Belgium, a kingdom in three parts” was posted on the Belgian ebay
site as offering “plenty of choice” despite the caveat that it comes
with “300 billion of National Debt.”Offered in three parts — Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia — the
accompanying blurb said the kingdom “can be bought as a whole (not
recommended).”The vendor also included as added extras “the king and his court (costs not included).”
Ebay spokesman Peter Burin said the site could not host the sale of
anything virtual or “unrealistic,” the Belga news agency reported.The ‘vendor’ was named as a former journalist, Gerrit Six. Offering
his lot at an initial price of one euro, he saw 26 subsequent bids
culminating in the 10 million euro offer on Monday before the auction
was halted.The spoof sale was offered while Belgium is mired in a political
crisis which has led to discussion over the country’s future as a
federal state.Tuesday marks 100 days since the country’s general election with no sign of a coalition government being formed by the political
parties in Dutch-speaking Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia.According to the ebay spokesman, it wasn’t the first time Belgium had been put up for sale.
“But the last time it wasn’t a Belgian who made the announcement and it wasn’t as well done or as amusing,” said Burin.

I guess I should update this once in a while. The Homer Giant above was painted onto the adjoining field with biodegradable paint. Pagans were unamused and did rain rituals to make it wash away. However, the Homer Giant is still there, and England now is having the worst floods in decades. Hmmmmmmmmmm?
We went to Chastain amphitheater last night for a B-52s concert. Concert was fun though very humid. They have first new album/cd in 15 years coming out next year, and performed from it.
Chastain is sort of wine and cheese type place–outdoor set up where people bring candles and wine and posture and not infrequently ignore or heckle (the unfortunate Garrison Keillor incident comes to mind) who ever is on stage. Last night the opening act was totally ignored and no one even thought to clap.
B-52s require dancing to–and–seems it was just me and Steve mainly. Haha However, people around us got to dancing followed by people in other parts of the amphitheater who saw us dancing, and left their seats and came over to join us. Haha Never had groupies before. haha
Have been on various day trips and the like over the weeks. State parks, lakes, historical sites.
And–less than 3 months to Halloween!
And now–on Sprockets– We dance!!

My Mouse needs either it’s ball cleaned, or new one all together. Eventually slamming it on the pad and swearing will cease to work.

I said a long time ago I should try for frequent small posts instead of the essays I write in my head and never put down–but whatever–hahaActually rained here last night–humid outside now. Drought has destroyed agriculture in Georgia this year, and many counties have banned watering all together. I was pleasantly shocked at the veritable Garden of Eden Fresno was when I was out there a week or so ago–but they have aqueducts from the mountains stealing water that otherwise would go to Yetis and farms in Aztlan.
So–I was in Fresno/Central Valley about a week for Josh’s wedding, then came back to ATL and bounced into another trip to Savannah with Steve and Michelle. The Fresno experience was interesting–didn’t make it to Yosemite, but did see some redwoods. I thought tall trees were in flatlands–not mountains at around 7000 feet.
I did kegstands at the wedding, but I don’t think they kept those pix. Haha looked like about what you’d expect. haha
Savannah and the beach were pleasant. Maybe I’ll get rich someday and get small house down there too.
Saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 last night. Argh! Matey.
Only 4 months to Halloween. I’m very behind.
Edit–I’m probably being overly sensitive–but even though I loved Pirates of the Caribbean–xanga or whoever kept insisting on including youtube links without my permission. Even in the html–nothing came up at all. So I entered gibberish link. Again, I loved the movie, I just resent involuntary links being added to my blog like I did it on my own.

Dear Bill and Andrea–
I don’t know if you saw the History Channel program on Sherman’s March to the Sea last Sunday– it’s repeated tonight at 8PM.
Nancy told me the actor who played Sherman is the same guy who portrays Lewis Grizzard at ARTS Station shows and around town.
To
me the march started when Sherman left Chattanooga–though they really
gloss over North Georgia campaigns and skip the siege all
together–just some dates and Sherman is in Atlanta. (I guess Kennesaw
Mountain and Chickamauga and the seige, and the mill women being sent
north were outside the focus)
One
scene has them at the headquarters toasting each other and smoking
cigars while enjoying great special effects view of Atlanta
burning–ala Nero fiddling/harping while Rome burning. Given the angle
and type of view they had–I’m not certain what floor of what
skyscraper they must have been on to have had it. (I don’t recall
where Sherman’s headquarters were in town.)
The
other part that made my teeth grind a bit was when they asked patriarch
of recently freed slave family why poor whites were fighting, and he
said they fought because they had been offered land and slaves by the
plantation owners. I guess crops being burned and homes and
livelihoods being plundered didn’t matter either…nor the simple fact
of being shot it, or one’s family.
Other
details on the march I’m not familiar with–you know more than me on
those. One sad story near Savannah of a pontoon bridge behind the
main army being cut loose and the slaves and families trailing behind
either drowning or being recaptured I was unfamiliar with.
Other
little details like the Emancipation Proclamation initially only
applied to areas not in Union control are rarely mentioned either.

Lynn concert was fun last Saturday at the Gwinnett Arena.
Unfortunately they always seem over too soon. Various fairs and
festivals upcoming. I finally visited the new Georgia Aquarium last
week. I liked the jellyfish best. Drought here not helping gardening
much. I bought all these interesting seeds but I guess I may need to
buy some plants already growing, or just plant more shrubs.Weight
issues have baffled me all my life–like sometimes I eat food and I
gain weight-though recently I’m eating a lot and seem to be losing.
Maybe I’m getting out more–dunno. I’m not complaining–I would just
like to be in weight loss more often and keep it going.
Plans for Sudan’s new downtown in Khartoum. I guess it’s from all the
money they save in Darfur. If they have money for this–seems they
could feed people and etc in Darfur? (Or I bet some nice Western or Chinese financing?) How many years has everyone been
talking about “doing something” (pass the champagne and crab claws
btw) in Darfur? If we’re going to be overthrowing countries for a
better world–how about there ?
This
was in India I think a while back. The owners said they were looking
for a concept–then pleaded ignorance when local Indian rabbis
objected.
Mmmmmm-kay. I think about this same time there was also a chain of
Nazi inspired fashion boutiques in Hong Kong and other places–but I
think they closed.
I don’t even want to know the menu item names.
Free entertainment!
Oh well. Cough. I don’t know who these mystery people are that bang on my door, then when I get there no one on the street anywhere.
