World conquest has sort of slowed down for me the last few years- though I have gotten around the South more the past few months–since I’m sorta like back down here again.

I’ve been back in ATL since June but I still struggle with the traffic though the pollution lightened up by early fall.

It’s been a few months since my figure could be flattered by such a slip.  I might wear yellow as a Hawaiian shirt in summer or warm weather, but the black would have been ok.

  • Happy Halloween y’all!  This has been good one.  Had about 40-45 treaters here. Had house pretty well decorated–though already planning for bigger better next year.  And my Halloween/ Celtic New Year’s Resolution is to blog more than I have.  Among other things.

Tonight will be the first night of the Tour of Southern Ghosts at Stone Mountain Park east of Atlanta.   I’ll be leading people to story tellers in the deepening Georgia shadows, wearing my cape and string tie and bearing a lantern.  Haha

The main joke there is:  What does a Southern ghost say?    Boo y’all!

    Ahem.

North Georgia Fair at Marietta a few weeks ago.  They shot a guy out of a big canon through the hammer ride while both hammers were swinging.  That was sort of unnerving.  Clown in a dunk tank cage was haranguing people–calling the Latins “tacos” (though he spoke in Spanish to them and they thought he was funny), and college guys he was calling rainbow boys  –  “What’s a matter?  Your uterus in the way of your throwing? You’ll never be a father with aim like that–but you probably don’t want to.”  Also another dude who is the next great country hit was playing–but–cough–never got his name.

    Dear Michelle–

The Happy Trees shirt you gave me was a big hit at the state fair the other night.  People were pointing it out to other friends and waving at me.  Haha

Saw a man shot out of a canon through moving hammer ride—mmmmmmmmmmm–that was sort of scary.

Emily had Lucy last Sept 7.   I guess the process was 45 minutes?  I need to recheck her e-mail.

Steve and I and Miss Bobby going to Nashville for Loretta Lynn concert at her ranch.

Steve’s mother not doing well.  She’s down to 115 lbs and won’t eat unless he cooks it?   So he says he’s moving in with her?  Mmmmmm

How are you?  Neil and Xav?   Guess I won’t make it for the Feast.  Still piddling on house stuff, but making gradual progess.  Tell Brenda and anyone else I said hi!

    Love,

Steve got freebie motel reservations from Harrah’s casino..so we went to Cherokee NC for Dionne Warwick concert.  Did gambling stuff Wednesday night.  Kicked out of the motel next morning.  Seems gasoline got into the city water system, so Harrah’s called our motel and cancelled our reservations–which the front desk of Quality Inn relayed to us–then (Harrah’s) claimed later they (Harrah’s) didn’t kick us out, but “asked us nicely.”  Is that what they call it when the front desk calls your room and tells you the company offering you the freebie they sent an ad for in the mail has cancelled your stay?  Fortunately got nice place at Carriage Motel a few miles outside of town.

Seems everyone was kicked out of all motels in Cherokee, and all restaurants were closed too.

I’ve got so many cell phone pix I can’t keep up with them to post current ones on here.

Lets see–last Thursday went to a town hall meeting by GA US 4 th district Rep John Linder.   Interesting to watch someone manipulate the crowd.  Some people he just said their numbers were wrong and left it at that with no follow up.  One person he said that was more to a story than the person knew, but again left it at that with no followup.  Several people he just blew off by saying he wasn’t worried about the problems they were concerned with.  His attitude was sort of like–I know what I’m doing –trust me.

    Whatever.

After that we went to the Tabernacle near Centennial Park and saw Henry Rollins Band and X.  I was in one of the crowd shots in the Atlanta Journal.  haha

Saturday Steve, Michelle (version ATL) and I went to Shorter Alabama to some casino place outside Montgomery.  (also near place called Monster Mountain–real name!)  I actually won 30 dollars.  Haha  Playing the monster/halloween video machines.  Haha  Place was sprawling warren of hallways and chambers.  People watching is interesting–though in someways sad and grim…at times….

Leaving Wednesday for Columbia SC for Joe’s graduation from boot camp.  The weather forecasts keep changing on Ernesto.  Guess it’ll be raining.   I have reservations next Saturday night for Charleston not too far from Folly Island–hopefully E will be gone and no big deal.  I’d like to spend Sunday night in Savannah on Tybee Island  beach but have held off on reservations so far.

And..haha..looks like I may be a guide at the annual Tour of Southern Ghosts at Stone Mountain Park east of Atlanta.  Walk around in 19th century garb  and carry big old lantern leading groups in the shadows from one story teller to another.

    Bwahaha.

Might even make enough money for gas to get there and back.  Haha

Hunt for real job sometime soon.

But maybe I’ll win the lottery.

    Haha

Joseph:    No he said he’s getting wings.

Went to the dedication of a new Civil War Park– the Nash Farm Battlefield–  this past weekend.  I went to the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon at Lafayette Indiana every year and other historical stuff–but that was 18th century Colonial–first time I’d been to Civil War reenactments.  Among the more curious moments were WWI German biplanes doing low level stunts over the canons and Lincoln giving sound bites to the media about the how the war was going.  Broad expansive rolling hills and lakes with charging calvary and booming canons and marching troops and sharpshooters.

Supposed to see Henry Rollins Group Thursday night and X.   Joe graduates from basic next week–so I’ve bought 9 lbs of skittles as a treat.  Probably go to coast again after that.

My brother had written disturbing notes/poems in his last days–in really bad, scrawly handwriting.  Seems he wrote a lot more–which was handed to me in a bag last time I was at the cousins–but haven’t gotten into that yet.   I may print some of it on here at some point.

    Anyway–gotta go.
