My right knee taunts me with healing. Was much better yesterday, but then I dozed off on the couch last night and slept all night on it–not the most comfortable way to go. I had gotten home from work and the last hour or so of Stephen King’s The Stand was on. So caught that. Then parts of old Star Trek Next Generation episode hadn’t seen in years–then–haha–dozed off again but woke up into X-Files, and Gillian Anderson and her luminous aura.
And–putting off yard work today–The Stand was on again–so caught more of that. Really had some nice music, and of course–Colorado is Colorado. Or at least it looked like that area.
Haven’t actually read The Stand. I think I fast skimmed a copy when it first came out, but now I cosy with books more. Speed reading really isn’t any fun.
I don’t know what this would mean in shamanistic terms, if anything– But a few nights ago coming home–turning into last intersection before the house– Big barn owl was flying across with something heavy and struggling underneath. Rabbit or rat maybe. Sort of dramatic coming out of the shadows like that.
Going to lake at Hard Labor Creek Park tomorrow. Have to get out, because summer will be gone before you know it. And I like the warmth and sunlight right now.

the stand is a good read – i read it years ago but i’ve never seen the movie – King movies don’t seem to do well in translation. i’m a next generation fan too – the best of star trek. enjoy the sun and warmth, i know i am! peace, Al
That barn owl had to be some kind of visual. I love reading. I am hooked on a book right now that I wake up in the middle of the night to read. Weird!
300 days of sunshine in Colorado, or so they say. According to this list (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108941/locations) The Stand was filmed in Boulder and also Garden of the Gods, in addition to various locations in Utah, Las Vegas, and Pittsburgh. I know the TV mini-series version of The Shining (as opposed to the Jack Nicholson movie) was actually filmed inside the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park which was King’s inspiration for the story; Maria was staying there during filming (and it is very haunted).
I read The Stand when it came out and wasn’t thrilled with it. I liked the story and was really into it and then it was like… King got bored with it or had some new idea and so just plopped “the end” on the book and called it good. Really annoyed me. I think that was the last of his stuff that read. (It wasn’t the first time one of his stories annoyed me, lol. I do think it was the last, however.)
