  • Happy Summer Solstice or Litha! Managed to plant some of the orphans I’ve been maintaining on my patio until I could properly plant them. A pepper dropped off one plant–I’d forgotten how pleasing a really hot fresh pepper could be with food.

Tomato plants have small tomatoes which will be nice later on. I think one area I going to dump all the seeds that have accumulated from past seasons and see what happens.

Japanese beetles shredding my roses as they usually do at this time. Stores never had traps whenever I looked. Queen’s Anne Lace sort of out of control. I’ve pulled some up, but still plenty left. Some tiny mums I planted in the front yard last fall managed to winter over, and are now bush size now and blooming. That was unexpected. Plus some gourd vine things in two areas–that was also unexpected.

Still some marigolds, impatiens and lilles and others to place somewhere.

  • Litha? Is that what they celebrate in Lithonia? If so, I missed it… Good luck with the gardening.

So, does this mean you may return to regularly scheduled blogging as well?

  • i had actually forgot that it was the first day of summer until someone reminded me – and they mentioned the fact that now the days will get shorter and shorter from here on out til the snow flies again. alas, summer is a fickle friend in that way. happy growing season. peace, Al
